Topic Of The Week
WILL THE NEW ERA COME?
The so-called developed countries always have something to fight for. Now their major goal is the environment, which stimulates the development of new directions in many industries: starting from fashion and ending with waste processing. Purity is the priority everywhere: organic foods, ecologically clean materials, environmentally friendly production facilities and of course ‘green’ cars. Many Ukrainians see this trend as a weird behavior, as we’re very busy just trying to earn living.
A FIRST, THE VERY FIRST
Curiously enough, but the first batch of ‘green’ electric vehicles to come to Ukraine was shipped not by A-brand producers, but a Kyiv-based company, Bio Auto. Its name is very similar to Hong Kong-based BIO Automotive Co., of which it is a partner in the supply of evA car models. However, the market of electric vehicles is still very limited, on the one hand, by consumers’ mentality, and on the other hand, by its ability to easily and freely reach an electricity outlet.
Anti-counterfeit Campaign
INHERITED COUNTERFEIT
As Terminal has learned, Kharkiv’s Zhovtnevy district court has obliged the Gong Company to pay financial compensation for the sale of poor-quality high-octane petrol. This story is unique, not only due to the fact that an average Kharkiv resident won the case, but also due to the fact that the seller effectively acknowledged that it had sold counterfeit fuel. However, it accused its supplier of being to blame, and the supplier’s name remains a secret.

SCANDAL OF THE WEEK: Institute For Scientific Research In Forensic Examination To Calculate Retail Prices
EXPERTS’ ASSISTANCE
Kyiv Economic Court on November 9, 2011, ruled on an economic expert examination in a dispute between private enterprise Okko-Nefteproduct and the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. In particular, a judge instructed experts from Kyiv’s Institute of Scientific Research in Forensic Examination to find the causes or factors that had an impact on the formation and change of prices of A-92 and A-95 petrol at Okko-Nefteproduct’s filling stations from November 2010 to January 2011.

CRISIS TO CHANGE THE FACE OF THE EU
Germany’s Iron Chancellor, Otto von Bismarck, once said that a treaty was bad if it couldn’t be reviewed. This explicitly characterizes the current processes in Europe: not only Europe’s economic structure is under review, but drastic political changes are to come in the next decade.
ONLY NATURAL GAS MAY DROP IN PRICE
Under economic forecasts given by the Psyche Center on the basis of a regressive analytical model, the price of major petrol brands will remain unchanged this week. In particular, the average retail price of A-92 and A-95 petrol produced to DSTU 4063:2001 standards will be UAH 10.04 and UAH 10.28 per liter respectively.

IN TIME IS IMPORTANT
On November 30, 2011, Ukrainian news agencies newswires had a news flash: «Following instructions by Chairman of the Crimean Council of Ministers Anatoliy Mohyliov, the Republican Committee of Crimea on fuel, energy and innovation policy has done its best to stop the growth of fuel prices in the Crimea. «The Crimean authorities will not allow uncontrollable growth of prices of fuels and lubricants,» said Ihor Zosimov, the chairman of the committee.

ABOUT AUCTIONS AND SHALE GAS
The deadline for submitting applications for an auction to exploit mineral deposits is expiring this week. It is drawing interest from the oil and gas sector because up for sale at the auction are licenses for geological prospecting and test production of four hydrocarbon fields.
In Coming Issues
WILL THE RESERVES SAVE THEM?
The crises that are from time to time created on the liquefied gas market with the Ukrainian government’s silent consent are encouraging traders to create developed infrastructure to store propane and butane. The country’s total storage facilities have expanded by several times since 2008.
Will the reserves save local traders or will the stocks they accumulate simply prolong the agony of the Ukrainian gas market?
PETROL COCKTAIL RECEIPTS
Every consumer has the right to choose what petrol to put in their car, where to buy it, and at what price. But sometimes one can only pity a glittering ‘steel horse’ that won’t live a long life if its eats the wrong grass. What do they add to fuel today, and what can you do to protect yourself from unwanted additives? Remember the rule: the cheaper the sausage, the more strange its effects.
