What kind Of Filling Stations Does Ukraine Need?
The country’s fuel market brings quite a lot of surprises to all its operators every year. Both global economic processes and domestic consumers’ tighter wallets dictate transformation. Therefore the following questions become relevant: «What will filling stations sell?» «What will the price be, and how will they sell it?» In summary, «What kind of fillings stations do we need?» The results of a discussion of the topic were summed up at a third round table of experts and analysts, which took place on March 6.

On February 22, 2012, Odesa’s Economic Court of Appeals upheld a December 6, 2011, ruling by Odesa region’s Economic Court, which turned down PAO Ukrtransnafta’s appeal to recover UAH 920,000 from PAO Misto Bank.

New Theatrical Season
With every new day it’s more difficult to forecast the movements of the markets, or be able to identify what was behind this or that market movement. The saying that the world is a theatre with amateurs pretending to be professional actors now makes sense…
Only Upward Direction
Under economic forecasts given by the Psyche Center on the basis of its regressive analytical model, the major fuel brands this week will go up in price. The average retail price of A-92 and A-95 petrol to DSTU 4063:2001 standards and winter-type 0.2-(-25) diesel fuel to DSTU 3868-99 standards will be UAH 10.12, 10.41 and 9.75 per liter respectively. One liter of propane-butane gas will cost UAH 5.71.
Trade
Spiritus Animalis
Repeated calls not to frighten the country’s fuel market with groundless rumor seem to be in vain. Journalists, in a rush for sensation, consistently replace a thorough analysis with empty talk, and forecasts based on mathematical models are replaced with apocalyptic prophecies. However, what could surprise us that even the Delo daily on March 6, 2012, published a headline saying «In the Event of War in Iran, the Price of Petrol in Ukraine Could Rise up to UAH 14 per Liter,» and «copy-paste» experts having made some linguistics manipulation broadcast it as «The Price of Petrol in Ukraine Will Rise to UAH 14 per Liter» the next day…
Anti-counterfeit Campaign
Crossing The Road
An active phase of a trial under which law enforcers are trying to prosecute people who made money from the illegal trade in crude oil will start soon. An outcome of this case could be the exposure of the entire group of the guilty, as they crossed the road to one of the most influential market operators – PJSC Ukrnafta. But it may happen «as usual»…

Good News Bring No News
Kyiv and Bucharest have been struggling in the UN’s International Court of Justice for several years to safeguard their interest in Black Sea maritime delimitation. The thin line on the map was not drawn simply to split the two countries’ economic zones, but also to determine who would develop hydrocarbon deposits in the northwest part of the shelf. In keeping with a court ruling, deposits near Serpent (Zmiyiny) Island were given to Romania. Ukraine’s Chornomornaftogaz consoled itself by saying that a well was drilled there in Soviet times, and it did not promise anything spectacular.
