SCANDAL OF THE WEEK: Lawmakers Vote Against Reorganization Of Naftogaz
No Division Is Planned
The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, has adopted at first reading a bill to reform the oil and gas industry tabled by MP from the Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense faction Yuriy Karmazin. His bill on amending the Law of Ukraine «On Pipeline Transport» proposes a ban on the privatization of state-run enterprises that are subsidiaries of oil and gas giant NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, and which are engaged in the transportation of oil and gas by backbone and/or distribution pipelines and their storage in underground facilities, as well as a ban on the privatization of Naftogaz itself, and enterprises, establishments and organizations to be created as a result of its reorganization.

The newswires are abuzz with comments that the global markets are seeing high volatility and a trend towards moderate growth is continuing. That sounds really great!
Another Plus Ten
According to economic forecasts given by the Psyche Center on the basis of its regressive analytical model, this week major brands of fuel will go up in price again. The average retail price of A-92 and A-95 petrol to DSTU 4063:2001 standards and that of summer-type 0.2-62 diesel fuel to DSTU 3868-99 standards will be UAH 10.40, UAH 10.71 and UAH 10.04 per liter respectively. The liter of propane-butane will cost UAH 6.48. The A-95 petrol will be underpriced by 23 kopecks, and liquefied gas by 41 kopecks.

Quality In Question
As Terminal has learned, a few weeks ago the Consumer Rights Protection Department lost a dispute with Kherson-based Rent-Oil company, having failed to prove in court that the company sold fuel which did not meet the required quality standards. The department put into question the quality of fuel produced by Kremenchuk oil refinery, but an independent laboratory did not confirm the department’s doubts. It’s too early to predict the end of the case…
